The Truist Foundation is setting course to strategically invest in historically excluded communities and address systemic inequities. The Foundation was formed in 2020 with a mission to inspire and build better lives and communities by giving everyone the equal opportunity to thrive. 

Julie Porter grew up as the youngest of nine children. Her older brothers and sisters were raised in a country farmhouse with no hot running water, but Porter was born in town, where the family moved when they bought a rambling house in McPherson, Kansas, for $11,000.
 

Durham Community Land Trustees (DCLT) has a mission not unlike that of many NeighborWorks organizations: To create affordable housing opportunities. But each organization approaches that mission a little differently, and DCLT is no exception. The organization is furthering its mission with a new, innovative project, involving accessory dwellings and community land trusts.

It was the first day of the kickoff of four new “learning communities” for network members organized by NeighborWorks America. The opening ice breaker asked each participant to share something that 1) he or she knows and 2) would like to learn.

Access to broadband internet is fast becoming a predictor of whether you are on the “have” or “have not” side of the American wealth divide. If you can’t access high-speed internet regularly and don’t know how to take advantage of it, you probably won’t do as well in school, won’t know about good available jobs and won’t be able to get those jobs if you did.
