Since 1999, Jason Zavala has provided training on the intricacies of housing market issues and course content development to NeighborWorks America in the homeownership and community lending area. While he has provided lead instruction in over 20 courses, his core scope of specializations are in pre-purchase and foreclosure intervention program design and education, financial literacy, abuses in the mortgage marketplace, credit counseling and sales and marketing for non-profit management.

During this time, he has provided expertise in the development of the NeighborWorks Center for Foreclosure Solutions, served as an evaluator of grant applications relative to national foreclosure prevention efforts and played numerous roles within the National Homeownership Programs on ensuring standards delivery for homebuyer education and financial fitness. He has also provided technical assistance to organizations in program development and assessment, evaluated best practices, developed surveys and conducted focus groups and interviews.

Before launching MitiGate, Inc., Zavala specialized in foreclosure intervention and homebuyer education in rural New England as a loss prevention initiatives manager for Rutland West NHS, Inc. While there, he founded the Vermont Anti-Predatory Lending Coalition. Earlier, while pursuing a career in consumer-finance banking, Zavala successfully management-interned with Bank One of Louisiana.

An alumnus of Louisiana Tech University, he earned a dual degree in mathematics and English, and recently completed an MA in community economic development policy from Southern New Hampshire University. He now resides outside of Nashville, TN.
