NA247 Post-Purchase Homeownership Education Methods in Native Communities

This 5-day course is a Train the Trainer curriculum designed for the purpose of preserving homeownership in Native communities.​ Participants will be able to design and deliver an effective Post-Purchase homeownership education program that promotes homeownership sustainability for Native families.


Participants will examine the difference between pre-purchase and post-purchase education. The course will evaluate the role of tribes, tribal organizations and Tribally Designated Housing Entities (TDHEs), and other partners and stakeholders in preserving Native homeownership. Participants will explore how to develop an effective post-purchase homeowner education class based on local needs, partners, and resources.​ This will include the three core concepts of financial management, home maintenance, and community involvement as well as how to create a marketing plan for post-purchase programs and services.
