Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer
Kemba Esmond joined NeighborWorks America as Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer in May 2021. In this capacity, she is responsible for several critical areas, including human resources, procurement, administrative services and facilities, budgeting and contracts, finance, and accounting. She is also responsible for providing and supporting NeighborWorks' strategic direction.

Esmond started her career at a nonprofit publishing association where she performed a wide range of accounting, auditing and finance tasks. At the publishing association, she developed the company’s first regression modelling to establish operational and corporate budgets and redesigned Treasury financial analyses and reporting for board members. Esmond went on to become assistant controller and her career has since spanned four industries.

In 2001, she accepted an opportunity to lead the business operations of a new city government agency in Philadelphia for the Office of the Mayor. After spending four years building out the agency, leading strategic planning, establishing policies, process and procedures, deploying creative solutions to fund citywide initiatives, she transitioned to the corporate sphere.

At JPMorgan Chase, Esmond focused on modeling credit risk for a $153 billion portfolio and led the financial analytics behind the launch of the Chase Ink Business Card. She then transitioned to Fannie Mae, where she led a quantitative analytics team that supported the national servicing organization responsible for reducing credit losses on a $2.3 trillion portfolio following the 2008 financial crisis. In this capacity, Esmond had credit risk management, performance monitoring and reporting, and forecasting and analytics responsibilities. An innovative achievement during her time at Fannie Mae was the development of an analytical tool that provided visibility into the performance of servicer banks primarily with regards to their effectiveness with loss mitigation on behalf of distressed borrowers.

Esmond completed her undergraduate work at Oakwood University earning a Bachelor of Science degree in accounting and went on to earn a Master of Business Administration from Pittsburg State University. She holds the professional designation of Certified Public Accountant and believes in NeighborWorks' mission to revitalize communities.
